Writing PD 25/1/17

Today we had some writing PD as a cluster. Although there wasn't a huge amount of new learning for me it did motivate me again for the new year. Probably the biggest thing I got out of it was, to find ways to make the learning progressions explicit and visual for our students. This is something I was already thinking about and has just been reaffirmed.

Another thing that has been reaffirmed is the importance of the positive learning environment in which risk taking and trying new things is valued ahead of "getting it right".

Something else that was really useful was breaking down the national writing standards and looking at what was needed to move from one level to the next. We put this on a 1 page sheet which I found really useful to look at.
